Join the Oakland Freedom Summer Project: July 9 - 29, 2012, Oakland, California
On Saturday, February 25, Occupy the Food System activists and other community members converged on the Uhuru House in East Oakland to engage in political workshops, committee building work and work to prepare the backyard at the Uhuru House for the Oakland Freedom Summer Project.
The Occupation for Self-Determination conference began with a presentation about the role of white people in the struggle for African self-determination.
Wendy Snyder, a member of the African People’s Solidarity Committee and the National Sustainable Membership Coordinator of the Uhuru Solidarity Movement, called on white people to get organized under the leadership of the African working class-led strategy to transform the system of colonial poverty and oppression.

“Resistance is the Future” is the title for this year’s National Convention because right now we are witnessing the just resistance of oppressed people throughout the world who are demanding their right to control their own land and resources. We can take a stand from the Euro-American or white community to support their right to resist!

For the first time since the 1960s, the liberation movement of black people in the U.S. is winning public recognition from international leaders. Representatives of the governments of Venezuela and Nicaragua, a leader of the Mexican/Indigenous rights movement, and African leaders from Colombia, the Caribbean, Congo and West Africa will come together at the 5th Congress of the African People’s Socialist Party – USA (APSP-USA), July 10-14 in Washington, D.C.

As the United States government broadens its military presence in Haiti and foreign non-governmental organizations increase their control over government and social service operations on the island, concerned African people are convening in Washington D.C. to organize a coordinated African response to this and other crises faced by Africans in Haiti and around the world.
As the United States government broadens its military presence in Haiti and foreign non-governmental organizations increase their control over government and social service operations on the island, concerned African people are convening in Washington D.C. to organize a coordinated African response to this and other crises faced by Africans in Haiti and around the world.
From July 10–14, community activists from throughout the U.S. and the world will converge for the 5th Congress of the African People’s Socialist Party, an organization with philosophical roots in the teachings of Marcus Garvey and Malcolm X.
