Actually discussion over the need or lack of it to torture in an emergency, instead preaching to the choir

by

An actual discussion over the need or lack of it to torture in an emergency, instead of a lot of preaching. A site that urgently needs to be spread around.

All over the Internet, and some newspapers people are preaching torture is always wrong,  vs "Let's not admit it in public".

At Capitol Hill site, people are discussing the issue.  Talking to each other rather than at each other is a rare occurance.

If ya really feel ya gotta torture

I can't be bothered to register at CHB to comment on this old and worn-out, and by this point, not very interesting, subject. The military has what's called a "command decision," civilians refer to it as an "executive decision." If ya absolutely, positively gotta do something, but you're not authorized to do it, go ahead and do it. BUT if it turns out that doing it wasn't really necessary, then you go to jail for it.
Sure, if people are absolutely convinced that torture is necessary, go ahead and do it. But if they're wrong, they've committed a crime against humanity that they need to be imprisoned for.

Discussion on torture earlier at this site

There was a earlier discussion on torture that included the influence of the TV drama "24" where torture is somethimes deplicted in a positive manner.

BTW

What torture proponents consider to be not-torture was officially considered torture back in 2002. Oh, and yes, they were fully aware "...that it would produce 'unreliable information.' "
